An eclectic journey through musical cultures of the world!

Violinist Randal Harrison and Stas Venglevski, a Graduate of the Russian Academy of Music, three time winner of the Bayan Competition of Moldova, first met International bodhranist Evan Leahy while performing together in his WAMI winning Celtic band, Leahy’s Luck. After touring and playing together for years, 2011 marks the inauguration of these three virtuosi as the independent trio, Bodhinay`. Their performances are a musical travelogue, bringing together a far reaching mix of Celtic, Tango, Gypsy, Americana and World Music.

The New String Trio features Emmy nominated Composer and Jazz violinist Randal Harrison along with the world's leading improvising cellist, Matt Turner and bassist Mark Urness, winner of the prestigious International Society of Bassists Jazz Competition. This jazz trio with classical instrumentation could easily be booked as a crossover ensemble. They perform original compositions inspired by the likes of Bo Diddly and Astor Piazzolla while incorporating new arrangements of seasoned standards by Billie Holiday and Jimi Hendrix. The New String Trio's world class technique and musicianship inspire audiences of any genre.

The Randal Harrison Trio features Randal Harrison on violin, Mark Urness on bass and world renowned percussionist and Blue Note recording artist, Dane Richeson. The Randal Harrison Trio's repertoire of mostly original compositions draws from the great masters of the American jazz tradition, with diverse influences of Indian Classical, Gypsy, Tango Nuevo and their own self-styled Appalachian Funk.

Violinist Randal Harrison charms, challenges and inspires listeners of all ages. Critics have simultaneously declared him reminiscent of Nicoli Pagannini, Stephane Grapelli, Al DiMeola and Frank Zappa. His mastery of such diverse styles has garnered him an EMMY nomination for composition and three MAMAs for Jazz Artist of the Year, Classical Artist of the Year and Blues Artist of the Year. His diverse performance credits include work with the Savannah Symphony Orchestra, bassist and Blue Note recording artist Ben Tucker, and legendary drummer Sam Lay of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Harrison appears on over 100 recordings including works for Naxos World, SRM, Boat Records, db Musique, Spiritwood and StringFling Records. In addition to performing, composing and recording, Randal travels as a clinician of jazz, improvisation and violin studies. He is the past president of the Suzuki Association of Wisconsin and is the founder and director of the East Side Talent Education Association of Madison (ESTEAM) where he teaches classical music to young musicians and alternative styles to advancing violinists and educators.
